Welcome to the Calderon Academy of Animal Art where our progressive Workshop Program in painting, drawing and sculpture embrace the time honored methods used to create images of the animals we love and cherish. We offer these programs from 30 years of research edited from manuscripts of Frank Calderon, Rosa Bonheur, Alfred Munnings, illustrators and other luminaries from this very specific genre and realm of study. We have created a program that will enhance your skill set to work from life models without technical reliance on photography, tracing and other mechanical devices. 

The  skill set acquired from these workshops will enable you to either focus entirely on the animals in your work or integrate their forms into your landscape and/or interior environments.

We are a team of professionals with decades of teaching experience and art making for the public and private sector. We have limited our workshops to 10 participants to insure individual attention. If you tire of sitting in your studio copying photographs of animals with grids and tracings, join us and share in the methods of painting, drawing and sculpting animals that has been handed down to us by the 19th and early 20thc masters of this specific genre. Though it might seem intimidating to work from living, breathing models, our workshops will prepare and provide you with the skills to approach images in an authentic process that when practiced, produced the museum pieces we hold in reverence. 

The great Bonheur and Munnings and complimentary methods are replicated in these workshop experiences. We can show you the procedures and how to deal with what few tackle in their work in contemporary times. No matter where you are in your work, accomplished or just beginning, you will improve your oeuvre or get the right start from our instruction and guidance in these time honored principals of creating fine art.
